A DRIVEWAY BEFITTING YOUR DREAM HOME

A driveway can transform your home into a lovely and classy affair, improving its aesthetic appeal. But it can do much more than that. It can also increase the resale value of your home. And if you already have one that is worn out and with cracks, not fixing it poses a tripping hazard to you, your family, and your guests. Beyond that, there’s a chance that further damage could extend and result in cracks in your home’s foundation, costing you more in the long run. Thus, if you want your home to have that elegant appearance that it should have, then building a driveway or fixing the existing one is a given.

WHAT’S NEEDED TO CONSTRUCT OR REPAIR A DRIVEWAY IN CALIFORNIA?

A few things are needed to construct or repair a driveway in California, many of which you won’t have to worry about if you hire us. The first thing you may need, depending on the project’s scope, is a permit. This is to ensure that the driveway meets the local design code. The local building and design department will require a site plan showing the location and design specifications of the driveway before you can receive a permit. You don’t have to worry. We will handle all of these for you after consulting with you, of course.

You will need drainage if you’re installing a new driveway. This will protect the driveway from flooding, water pooling, or other drainage issues. As a result, your driveway will last longer. So, you might want to factor that into your budget.

Did we forget to mention that you will need to choose an appropriate material for your driveway? Will it be concrete, cobblestone, decomposed granite, or some other driveway material? It is important to note that the chosen material must meet local codes and regulations. If you are unsure about the material to use or if it meets the local design codes, you can consult with us, and we’ll provide the answers you need or the options available to you, as the case may be.

Once these are out of the way, building the driveway or fixing it can begin in earnest.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A DRIVEWAY PROJECT IN CALIFORNIA?

Once you’ve consulted with us and we’ve got the usual Q&As to understand your needs out of the way, we’ll send our representatives to do a site analysis. This may include checking the location for accessibility, slope, and whether it complies with the requirements of the local authorities. And then, we’ll proceed to obtain a permit, if necessary.

To begin the actual construction of the driveway, the desired area will be marked out, using strings to outline the driveway carefully. Afterwards, the driveway is excavated to a desired depth and graded to remove dirt and debris, and to ensure that the area is level and compact to create a stable foundation. Also, edgings of concrete, pavers, or bricks are installed to keep the driveway from shifting over time.

Then comes the pouring of the concrete or laying bricks or whatever material the driveway is made of. A sealant is used to enhance the driveway’s beauty and protect it from the destructive effects of water. Drainage, lighting, and other fixtures are added to cap it all up. Voila! You’ve got yourself a brand-new driveway.

There’s little difference between what happens when constructing a driveway and when fixing one. Granted, the latter will usually require less work. Issues with driveways usually range from water pooling to buckling to cracking. As in constructing a new one, an assessment is also done, and eventually, the defective parts are either patched or replaced, as the case may be.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO CARRY OUT A DRIVEWAY PROJECT IN CALIFORNIA?

It is really a matter of what you want. The cost of a minor repair, such as patching up a few holes, is certainly different from that of constructing an entire driveway. Then there is the matter of the length of the driveway, type of material, complexity of design, etc.

We promise our rates are friendly, so you won’t have to break the bank or anything along those lines. Contact us today, and we’ll give you a quote customized to your tastes and needs. The home of your dreams is just a phone call away.
